Director of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, University Hospital of Santiago de Compostela, and Full Professor (Catedrático) of Medicine, University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. He directs the Research Group on Digestive Diseases at the Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela, and is a Board and Executive Committee member of the Foundation Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela (FIDIS) and a permanent member of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Galicia. He is Past-President of the European Pancreatic Club (EPC), the Spanish Society of Gastroenterology (SEPD) and the Spanish Foundation of the Digestive System (FEAD).

Professor and Chief Physician, Director of Mech-Sense and the Centre for Pancreatic Diseases, Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Aalborg University Hospital, Denmark. A leading expert in pancreatology, visceral pain, motility, pharmacology and brain-gut interactions, he has authored more than 825 peer-reviewed articles (H-index 85). He chairs the Danish Pancreas Forum, the Scandinavian-Baltic Pancreatitis Expert Forum, and the International Pancreatic Pain Consortium, and has served as President of the Scandinavian Association for Neurogastroenterology and Motility since 2012. In 2019 he was knighted (Order of the Dannebrog) by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

Instructor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Johns Hopkins University. Her clinical and translational research focuses on pain in pancreatic diseases, particularly chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, examining the mechanisms and clinical impact of chronic abdominal pain, including its relationship with the gut-brain axis, psychological health, autonomic function, and quality of life. She is also involved in developing and evaluating nonpharmacologic, personalized approaches to pain management through multidisciplinary and international collaborations.

He trained in Germany (Hamburg, Erlangen, Rostock), with a postdoctoral period at Scripps Research, La Jolla. He led the UEG guidelines for chronic pancreatitis (HaPanEU), IgG4-related disease and pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, and the fatty pancreas consensus, and served as Secretary General of EPC and President of United European Gastroenterology (UEG). Author of 450 publications, he received lifetime achievement awards from EPC (2023) and the International Association of Pancreatology (2026).

Consultant Gastroenterologist and Head of Gastroenterology & Endoscopy, HM Hospitales, Madrid, Spain. Trained in the United Kingdom (MRCP; Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training), she has extensive expertise in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound, with particular focus on pancreatic and pancreatobiliary disease, digestive oncology and inflammatory bowel disease. She leads multidisciplinary gastroenterology teams across three HM hospitals, contributes to postgraduate teaching internationally, and is active in clinical research on advanced endoscopy and pancreatic cancer, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and invited lectures.

Director of the Department of Gastroenterology at the University Hospital Halle (Saale), Germany. A gastroenterologist specializing in pancreatic diseases, his research began with identifying genetic associations in chronic pancreatitis and now spans clinical studies to basic science. As Treasurer of United European Gastroenterology, he plays an active role in giving gastroenterology a strong voice across Europe.

Professor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he directs Pancreatology — including the Pancreatitis Center and the Total Pancreatectomy with Islet Autotransplantation Program — as well as Endoscopy. He trained at Johns Hopkins and Harvard, with fellowships at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Johns Hopkins. A founding member of the International Pancreatic Pain Consortium, his research spans post-ERCP pancreatitis prevention, autoimmune pancreatitis, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, and pancreatic pain. Author of over 360 publications, he serves on the Board of Directors of the National Pancreas Foundation and as Associate Editor of Pancreatology.

Director of the Institute of Food Science Research (CIAL, CSIC-UAM), Madrid, Spain, and leader of its Chemistry and Functionality of Carbohydrates and Derivatives (PREBIOIN) research group. Her work spans sustainable food-preservation methods, extraction and characterization of bioactive and functional carbohydrates from agri-food by-products, and in vitro digestion modelling. She has led 72 research projects, holds 7 patents, and authored 184 JCR publications (h-index 52/53), placing her among the World's Top 2% Scientists (Stanford/Elsevier, 2024–2025). She has supervised 16 doctoral theses and received 10 research awards.
